I have often pondered this question when I have two college degrees and still have to watch what I spend.nbsp; I look at my cart with all the 'always save' or some other off brand items....then I look at the 350 pound woman in front of me paying with food stamps.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Why is her cart void of any off brand items?nbsp; And can anyone tell me what has happened to this country whennbsp;every porterhouse and T-bone steak that the meat department had in stocknbsp;is now in her cart while I have to settle for ground beefnbsp;.nbsp; Something must be seriously wrong with this country when our hard earned tax dollars are funding their block parties

Not everyone on Food Stamps does that. I know of many people that shop at discount stores and clip cupons and are on Food Stamps, some people just don't spend their government money wisely. This is probably the same type of women who sends her children to a gas station full of overpriced goodies, like I work at, to get some "munchies".

Obviously you haven't thought this thru logically. First how do you decide which brands people can and can't buy. 2. second what do you tell the brands that just lost a TON of money. 3. how do you educate the people to get them to change their lifestyle. There are some people(with and without food stamps) that buy what they want to eat no matter what it costs or how BAD it is for them. That will never change. Just be happy knowing that you at least have learned how to strech your food dollor. Some people never will.

While many agree that people on food stamps should be required to choose healthy food and choose cheaper cuts of meat, this is something that would have to become law. I know of no active group supporting these changes, but if it concerns you, email, or speak to your representatives.
