It sounds like they could be stressed about something, how new is the tank? Make sure your water parameters are safe (zero ammonia, zero nitrite and that your pH is what it needs to be for your fish) Also check that your temp is correct for your type of fish. If all that is OK and they are new to the tank they may be scared of their new home and you may need to give them a couple days to get used to it.
