They are not healthy & they aren't cheese. You're kids are better off with block cheese than a "processed cheese food" I stopped buying that junk full of chemicals and crap when I realized how much damage stuff like that does to people. Just because it contains "calcium" doesn't mean it's good for you. You can get calcium and protein from other, healthier choices, like real milk & real cheese. Read this link and then decide if you want to continue giving it to your child. http://www.familyfarmdefenders.org/pmwik...

Kraft slices are not cheese!! Kraft can't even legally call it cheese! "Kraft Singles are a pasteurized cheese food product manufactured and sold by Kraft Foods Inc. One of the more famous ad campaigns involved the claim that each slice contained "5 ounces of milk". The campaign was lambasted for its implications that each slice contained the same amount of calcium as a five ounce glass of milk, which eventually led to a ruling in 1992 that ordered Kraft to stop making unsubstantiated claims in its advertising." (Sourced from Wikipedia) They're a processed cheese food, like Velveeta. I would pick real American cheese over Kraft Singles everytime!

Real cheese would be better than processed slices but there is nothing wrong with them. Anything in moderation is not a bad thing, especially if it gets your son to enjoy eating cheese.

I try, as a rule, not to eat too much of anything that has "processed" as part of its name! Doing a taste test also clearly works in favour of real cheese. My littlest guy calls them "fat cheese" and "skinny cheese".

Cheese slices are one step away from being plastic, this can cause all sorts of digestive issues especially in kids, when you go into a grocery store and you see a stand alone display of cheese slices that is not in the refrigerator section, you have to know that this is something you should probably not feed your children.

Ignore the "one step from being plastic" nonsense. Oxygen (O2) is "one step away" from ozone (O3) - clearly this means oxygen is harmful to breathe! Cheese slices contain lots of calcium and protein, which is good for growing children. It doesn't taste the same as "regular" cheese, but that doesn't mean it's absolutely harmful unless it's the only thing you ate - then again, if you only ate apples (which are "healthy,") you'd still have a nutritional deficiency. The key is to make sure your kid eats a wide variety of foods.

Cheese slices would be bad for kids depending on the amount of cheese you feed him or her. The child's cholesterol will increase as he or she grows old because of the high amount of fats from cheese being consumed.

Nothing is bad for you, a slice of cheese has calcium and some protein.  It's all about balance and moderation, a slice of cheese for a snack is fine, a slice of cheese on a sandwich is fine.  I wouldn't add any more cheese throughout the course of the day.  Following the food pyramid truely is the way to go!
