The FDA only has this licensed as to be used with one single injection rather than as an oral based medicine. However, in other parts of the world it is used orally in cats so many vets here use it that way 'off label'.

Like any NSAID (non steroidal anti inflamatory drug) there are risks in using it in that your cat may have intestinal irritation leading to bleeding ulcers or could react with kidney or liver damage. This means your cat may also need to use a medication to protect the intestinal tract and that regular blood work to watch for potential organ damage is a good choice.

This is a great pain med but it has to be used carefully and monitored closely.

In all the research I have done about this specific medicine, it has come to my attention that the drug is designed only for dogs. Though there may be some who have used it on their cats, the drug is not intended for that purpose. It is a powerful medicine that can do great damage therefore I would advise great caution.
