Religion is something private.... It is something in us, that comes from our soul....
We always have a choice, in everything we do... It's up to us to believe or not, but it certainly depends on your attitude to religion...
For someone, it's a salvation... just imagine if there is nothing beyond our life.... we all born and doomed to death.... without religion our life is nothing... there is nothing left after us.... none of the material things are eternal..... even people who keep memories of us will finally pass away and the generations will keep on replacing each other.... and this whirl of events is incessant... So maybe our life on earth is just a temporary occurrence that leads us to an eternal life... And religion gives us a hope... Thus we just need to lead an apropriate life on earth to deserve a better life there.....
There are actually answers can be found in a religion to all the conceivable questions.... It can be considered as an instruction how to live... and so it is. The morality and the majority of aspects of our life are based on religious doctrine...
Anyway religion is a great part of the world and our existence... and all of us somehow depend on it. One we must remember forever that religion is a faith, a steadfast faith in something that has no proof.
Even atheism we can refer to a confession, because atheists also do have a faith, they are pretty sure that there is nothing else exists except our world.... And it may seem very tough to be convinced that one day you'll die and that'll be the end... Nothing expects you.
So regardless your attitude, confession or charachter, religion is always there as an integral part of you.

Throughout every part of human history, on every continent, in every human culture out there, religion and/or spirituality comes into being. To me that proves that it must be necessary, otherwise religion would just be isolated occurences...if it happened at all. But for religion to always happen throughout human history and everywhere on the planet...? To me that says there's a reason.
Although I haven't read it, there is a book out there called "The God Part of the Brain" in which the author puts forth the idea that there is actually a part of the brain that is hard-wired for spirituality or God. He speculates that one reasonf for this may be, "In order to enable us to deal with our species' unique and otherwise debilitating awareness of death." Or maybe there is another reason. But based upon the evidence of simply observing humans, there does indeed seem to be a "need" for religion for most humans.

Religion is a strange word. It means many different things to different people. Like "breakfast" or "home".
Religion or spirituality can be traced way back in history through all parts of the planet. What religion does, is it gives humans a set of "rules" to live by. Animals all live by different "rules" depending on their species. Humans, unlike animals, have the ability to think, reason, hate and love. Without some form of religion or rules, almost all of us would undoubtedly behave like animals. It sets us apart from living without consequences or accountability. Yes, I certainly believe that religion or spirituality is necessary.

Religion is based on FAITH. For some people their faith gives them HOPE. Without hope life can seem pointless. Religion is neccasary to help people COPE with the insanities of this world. I am not a overly religous man but the one point that gives me pause is this. If Jesus was NOT the son of God then he was the gratest Con man ever because people STILL believe in him after 2000years. Not sure Who said it .

One can do anything religously, technically, it means to do something repetively. Religion is necessary for some because if there is no hope for a future beyond this life, then some people would behave very differently. Some people need to believe that everything will be squared up eventually. Some call it karma, some call it justice, some call it religion. Almost every one needs something to believe in, otherwise, the world could become a very dismal place.
