I've just started out with freelance online stuff.  The best thing I've found so far is Ninerniner, only because it was quick for me to reach the payout minimum.  I'm also on Associated Content, but that didn't really work out very well.

I enjoy writing for Helium, Associated Content, Suite101, and Demand Studios. They all have their pros and cons, of course. I write most of my articles for Helium because they are more consistent with their upfront payments and offer payment for more subjects than Associated Content. I also like the competition in article rankings, and the Helium community is very helpful.

Demand Studios pays much more upfront per article (most articles pay $15, whereas Helium pays $.50-3.50 and the highest I've been able to get from AC is $4), but the topics are very limited and each article has to be approved by an editor. I like Suite101 because it looks very professional and allows you a lot of freedom in editing your articles and choosing subjects, but I write on obscure subjects so I haven't been able to earn much ad revenue.

I write for Demand Studios, Bright Hub, Organized Wisdom and Associated Content, in addition to private client work.

Demand Studios:

Pros:  Timely payments twice per week; steady work; health coverage being provided as of 11/1/09

Cons:  Inconsistency with editors, frequent changes to style guidelines, lack of communication with the editorial team

Bright Hub

Pros:  Reliable payment; good revenue share payments

Cons:  Inconsistency (one channel's rules are different from the rules of other channels); the writing platform has a lot of kinks and glitches, payment is only on a monthly basis, so you have to do other work so you can eat

Associated Content

Pros:  It's a good place for me to tinker with SEO and write about things I like that I can't write about on other sites.

Cons:  Low up-front payment offers, low PV earnings

Organized Wisdom

I'm too new to form an opinion on pros or cons.

I just joined Suite 101 and think it is promising.  I also belong to Helium and Constant Content, but have never written anything for either site.

 

I started off writing for Helium, Triond and Associated Content. Helium is probably my favourite freelance writing site as it pays me upfront payments. I am not eligible for upfront payments from Associated Content because I do not reside in the US. I also love google adsense sharing sites and I spend alot of time on Xomba and another question and answer site called webanswers. I typically earn around $300 a month with my writing sites. I have just joined askables and am interested to see what it can add to my freelance writing income.

I have just started writing and I am still feeling my way around.

I started with helium for sometime now, and AC but i just join askables some mins. ago and i trust it will be profitable too like helium.

I do like writing for Seed.com which is still new. Hopefully will get some money from four of the articles that I submitted yesterday. I am also a writer at Ehow, Associated Content, Demand Studios, Bukisa, and have signed up at some sites that only pays you with upfront payment. I would love to be able to make $3k a month starting next month but due to having to watch soon to be four girls, not sure if I would be able to make that much with mostly upfront payment.
