Juice containers, milk cartons, cereal boxes?
asked 3 years ago
Actually, some of these things can be recycled in a different way. For instance, I reuse milk containers for restarting my houseplants, and for getting my seedlings ready for planting in the spring. I reuse plastic soda cups from convenience stores in the same way.
Cereal boxes can be cut down and used to hold items such as pens and pencils, or used to hold crafting items such as beads or buttons. They can also be cut down and used as recycled gift boxes.
Recycling can be done in a lot of different method

All boxed food items: cereal, macaroni and cheese, soda boxes, children's snacks, soup cans, (steel cans), cans with vegetables and fruit, soda cans (aluminum), newspaper, office paper, empty print/toner cartridges, milk cartons, juice cartons. Actually there isn't a lot that can't be recycled, but it's determined on what recycling facilities are available where you live.

Printer ink cartridges is probably synonymous with the word recycle. It instanly pops to my mind when the I hear or read the word recycle. Plastic containers, bottles and old mobile phones and accesories are also recycled.

I know with plastics at least that different types must not be mixed for recycling. As it is difficult to tell one from another, the 'type' of plastic will be indicated by the 'chasing arrow symbol ', usually with a number in it. These markers do not mean the plastic can be recycled, nor that the container uses recycled plastic. So it can be misleading. See this website for a list of each codes recycling status. Tops on juice/water bottles are often of different type to the bottle they came on & these two will need to be separated. Tetra packs can be recycled although as they are a mixed product the process tends to be expensive & only a tiny fraction of this packaging is actually recycled. I know also know that paper with any sort of contamination or plastic layers can't be recycled so this may include cereal boxes, waxed cardboard milk & juice containers. Lots of info on here if you are interested. http://www.obviously.com/recycle/guides/common.html
