Are old pantry goods still good or should they be thrown out?

My mother just informed me that there was a box I had stored at her house labeled "kitchen items."  A peek inside revealed the missing pieces to my waffle maker (yay!), some old flour (eww) that I tossed out, and some baking powder and spices.

I'm wondering if the baking powder or spices would still be good/useable or if they should be thrown out? 

They are over five years old (yikes).
