I have spotted this on some food labels.

Perhaps the main problem with high sodium foods is that too much salt raises blood pressure. Keep in mind that your kidneys (which regulate the amount of salt you have in your body) can only deal with so much sodium at one time. So if you eat a food that has more sodium than your body can process, some of that salt will circulate in your blood.
That doesn't sound like a big deal until you realize that salty blood is thicker than normal blood. This means your heart has to work harder to move that blood around and that, in turn, means your blood pressure rises.
High blood pressure can damage your brain, your blood vessels and your heart. It can lead to complications like stroke, kidney damage, loss of eyesight and heart attack--just to name a few.
That's why so many people are concerned about the sodium content in food.

High sodium content means whatever food you are looking at has a lot of salt in it. Too much sodium can cause you to retain water, gain weight, and can cause your blood pressure to rise, and can cause problems with your heart. It's not healthy for you to have too much salt or sodium in your diet.
