You do need to be somewhat active if you want to lose weight. However, changing eat habits can be great way to jumpstart motivation to get to that point. The updated food pyramid is actually pretty nutritionally accurate, especially compared to previous versions. The basic principle to remember is that all of your meals and snacks should contain a ratio of 40% carbs, 30% fat, and 30% protein.
Excersize does not have to be crazy at first. You can easily start with walking 1.5 to 2 miles per day. A stationary bike is a great form of cardio without being as intensive as jogging or running. It also allows you to easily watch television or read, keeping your mind distracted. As your stamina improves you'll have the confidence and ability to increase your difficulty and try running or other high impact cardio.

To loose fat you need to burn calories. You can use a jumping rope every day for 15 mins to burn calories. You'll burn calories and tone your muscles at the same time.
