In shaving, you have an option to use regular blade razors or men’s electric shavers. Some men prefer the easiness and convenience of electrics. Those cordless electric shavers are especially famous nowadays. There are two types of electric shavers available in the market: the foil and the rotary type.

Using electric shavers does not require you to use shaving creams. You also do not need to change blades. They are very easy to carry around, anywhere you go. You are also less likely to be cut with an electric shaver. However, a good electric shaver is not cheap. Undoubtedly, they are very expensive. They can cost as much as thirty up to one hundred dollars and more. Nonetheless, they won’t give you as close a shave as a regular blade razor.

Most men choose regular blade razors than men’s electric shavers. The two most popular types are the cartridge and disposable razors. With the cartridge razor, when the blade gets dull, you throw away the blade cartridge, but can keep the rest of the razor for the reuse again with the cartridge that is new. The disposable razor must be thrown away entirely when the blade gets blunt.

You can choose also from a single or multi- blade razors. Most men prefer the closer shave they can get from a multi-blade razor. The newest developed razors nowadays have pivoting heads and flexible blades. With this kind of features, you won’t cut yourself and have a closer shave too.

There are many popular brands like Braun, Philips, and Norelco that have different unique features you can choose. They are continuously developing men’s electric shaver because of the increasing demand of consumers and adding some new features.

As with everything else, choosing the right electric shaver is a matter of opinion and need.  There are ten or fifteen different models to choose from and they all have different options. Some are rechargable, some you have to take a change of batteries with you. Most models have removable heads to clean them out but others (usually more expensive) have a self cleaning tub.

I was in the U.S. Army and we had to be clean shaven every morning even in a combat environment. I can tell you from experience that the less expensive, take your own batteries with you and clean the head yourself models are going to painfullly pull out your whiskers after you use them for a couple of weeks. This is what I call a "throw away".  However, If you are just looking to get the occasional quick shave on the way to work this type is a good choice.

If money is no object, then the Braun Series 7 760cc shaver for appx $235 is a great rechargable, self cleaner. This is what I call the top of the line.

As I have a full beard, I use a Phillips Norelco model T970 beard trimmer that I've been using for two years or more. It is rechargable, has a dial on it for changing the depth of cut and it has an "Accuvac" chamber which traps most of the beard clippings. You can also remove the plastic guard and trim your beard hair down almost to the skin. Then use your disposable razor with shaving cream to get the closest possible shave.
