Here are some things I do for appetizers:
cheese and crackers
spinach dip with crackers and pumpernickel
deli tray
fruit tray
vegetables and dip
sandwiches
shrimp ring
Oh: The crockpot is your friend! It cooks the food for you and keeps it warm for guests. If you can borrow a couple, it's a great idea. Meatballs in the crockpot are a great hit for dinner parties and for showers (baby or bridal)Have a great party!

You could buy a cheese called Queso Fresco, some cherry tomatoes, chives, sourcream, and fancy looking crackers, then:
Cut the cheese into a triangular pieces about 1/4" thick each and wide enough to cover the cracker, place on the cracker.
Cut the cherry tomato into four slices (it's easiest to do this with a serrated knife) and put one quarter on top of the cheese,
With a teaspoon (the smallest spoon) put a thimble sized amount of sourcream on the tomato.
Finely chop the chives, then sprinkle onto the sourcream.
Another appetizer:
Buy some spinach, bacon, and mozzarella cheese (grated is best), and again, some fancy crackers, tehn:
Cut up the spinach (with a pair of clean scissors) until it is finely shredded, then place in a skillet set on medium with two teaspoons of butter in it. Cook until slightly darkened. (NOTE: Spinach shrinks when it's cooked, you'll need about three cups, uncooked, to make enough for 12 people)
In a separate skillet, also set on medium, cook about 8 strips of bacon until crispy. Take the bacon out of the skillet once it is cooked, and place it on a few paper-towels to soak up unwanted grease. (Also, pat the bacon dry with a separate paper-towel) Finely chop up the bacon and throw it in with the spinach.
Turn the stove temperature down to low, then add the mozzarella (once small bag should be enough). Stir until the cheese is well mixed and melted, then spoon some onto the crackers.
Hope these recipes help! I learned them in Culinary Arts class, they were for beginners. -smiles-

So many! Lots of options out there --- Bowls of olives; corn chips and salsa - guacamole is a guaranteed hit, easy to make or found at the supermarket. A selection of dips - hummus; baba ganoush; tapenade, whatever takes your fancy. Most supermarkets stock a good range of all of these. A sample of crackers; or mini bread sticks; bagel crisps - yummy! A selection of cheese - you don't want to fill your guests bellies too early on though!
