Avoid sudden starts and stops & try to accelerate smoothly. Try to maintain a steady consistent speed. Avoid idling unnecessarily & turn off the engine if at a standstill for longer than 30 secs. (unless sitting in traffic.) Make sure your tyres are properly inflated. Use the appropriate gear. Driving in a gear lower than you need wastes fuel. Make sure you are using the correct fuel for your vehicle. Use the air con sparingly - on a hot day this can increase your fuel consumption by 10%. Service your vehicle regularly. Walk! Cycle! Leave the car at home!!
