Why Having A Connection Is Important In Relationships

Whether involved in relationship of friendship or romance, the connection formed between participants is the glue that holds the varying aspects of kinship in place. Without a personal connection on some level, there is little hope of any relationship lasting long-term, and the association between two people becomes little more than an arrangement of convenience. The attributes that create any strong relationship begin with a connection of minds, hearts, intellects, opinions or hundreds of other traits, that allows us to understand the other person often without a single word being expressed, and to understand that our position and feelings on any given topic are accepted without explanation.

The connection that forms between two people is most often referred to as "chemistry" - an indescribable, unexplainable feeling or emotion that makes us gravitate toward someone. When it is truly reciprocal it is an amazing feature of human nature that is rare, infrequent in happenstance, and precious in it's value and worth. The natural affection that accompanies an interpersonal connection is effortless, as is the trust that builds more quickly and intensely that in a relationship of lesser natural attraction. Because the relationship "just feels right", it enables both parties to sustain a relationship over extended periods of time and distance, and to pick up with the same depth of interest after long separations.

As a relationship progresses through time, the connection between the two participants remains an underlying constant that never fails. Whether in good times or bad, the personal connection is like a comfortable pair of shoes that always will feel good, even when other aspects of the relationship go terribly wrong. Regardless of the circumstance or the duress it produces, the connection with the other person will perpetually serve as a security measure to ensure that the relationship survives and prospers despite a few bumps in the road of life.

The importance of a connection in a relationship is recognized by the individuals involved, at the very least on a subconscious level if not outwardly. It is because of the rarity of it's occurrence that a true connection is guarded and afforded the respect and reverence it is deserving of, and the people with whom we have a sincere connection with always take precedence in our favor. As a result of their "favored" status in our minds and hearts, the individuals that we have an emotional or intellectual connection with most deeply will likely remain in our lives for the duration.
