Questions To Ask Prospective Life Insurance Clients

A career as a life insurance agent can be quite lucrative if you know how to weed out overly risky prospective clients.  There are obvious questions that you should ask, such as; age, height, weight, tobacco use and medical history. The answers to these questions will let you know if you should proceed with the evaluation or if an immediate rejection is in order.  If the prospect does give satisfactory answers, you may think the evaluation is finished. In reality, there are a few more questions you must ask every prospect.

One very important question is this; does the prospect have a history of alcohol or drug abuse? If so, have they attended and completed any treatment programs? You might also ask if they have relasped after an extended period of time being sober. This may seem like an invasion of privacy issue, but people who abuse alcohol and drugs are at risk of an early death, the very thing that a life insurance agency doesn't want.  Once these issues are resolved, there are still more questions to be answered.

Finanally, you will want to know if the prospect has the ability to live independently and if there are other insurance companies competing for his premiums. Is the amount of insurance he is applying for realistic given his risk factors? Also, what is the highest premium he will accept and are there any occupational risks? Last, can this prospect provide you with any viable referrals. All of this imformation is important to know before you write that policy!

I have decided to try my hand at writing and have been at it a little over 5 weeks. I have been enjoying myself tremendously. I hope to get to know people on this site and develop better writing skills.
