The future can be a somewhat intimidating timeline to think about. While you rejoice to look at the past and see how things have worked out, you can also look back and view mistakes that you may still be suffering from. In light of this, there is an intimidation or fear of what mistakes may happen in the future. How can one free themselves of the fear of tomorrow in order to focus on being successful? There are a few different tactics to use in escaping the fear of tomorrow to move on to a brighter future:
1. Keep your ultimate goals in front of you and at the forefront of your mind. Constantly, I have to remind myself what my ultimate purposes and goals in life are. As a Christian, I am to stay focused on glorifying God throughout my day-to-day life in each moment with each breath. That is my ultimate goal. In terms of employment, one must remind themselves of the goal they are trying to accomplish in the long run. For some, this is paying off the mortgage, supporting the family, or just gaining spending money to use at one's own discretion. Constantly reminding yourself of the purpose of your action is key to motivate yourself to succeed in the future.
2. Learn from the mistakes of the past. Mistakes will be made, but that's no reason to quit, rather its an opportunity for improvement. The mistakes of the past are not just scars that do no good whatsoever; rather, one can look to the mistakes of the past, see the problem made, and correct the problem for the future.
3. Consult individuals in the same situation or occupation that you are. One of the wisest acts to make is to ask for advice about a future decision or occupation. More than likely, there are men and women who have gone through the same intimidation about their future concerning the same exact problems you are and therefore can provide some much needed information to help in time of need.
These are just a couple tips to help focus your future for success.
