Why does "I love you, too" is special?

On Christmas Day, my cousin asked me this question: Why does “I love you, too” is special? I thought it was funny when she asked me this but suddenly I realize that I don’t have an answer for that simple question. I asked myself so many times and still I didn’t find any answer. Why, why and why? There might be a lot of answers to this question but it is always best when it is original and based on your own experience.

I’m married and we are blessed with one beautiful baby girl. I’m always telling my wife and my daughter how much I love them then there is always “I love you, too”. Admittedly, I am guilty of taking for granted the words that I’m saying. Whew! LOL it’s really hard to admit our mistakes even how small it is. Everybody felt special upon hearing these words, am I right? Unless, you don’t want to hear it. Then why is it special again? Is it clear now? Not yet, let us go deeper… what? No! let us make it simple.

Even though every couple may be in love, the expression of those feelings is different for everyone. Some of us like to say "I love you, too" every time our partner says “I love you”, while others say it few and far between.

Some people say that telling these words to somebody is one way of expressing how deeply you love that person. Really? How about for some people who are using these words just to fool somebody? Well let us not waste our time for this “some people”, forget them because they don’t know what love is.

For me these words are special if and only if:

1.    It is said wholeheartedly – for real lovers (you can’t say it after a fight or because your partner wants to hear it),

2.    Relationship is not one-sided (other partner is just pretending which is the common case like “oh come on, yucks! just give me what I want so that I can get rid of you immediately”).

I always loved reading love quotes and even I stopped reading now due to my super hectic schedule I still remember some of them. Only some? Few? LOL my memory is really really bad. This is one of my favorites and I believe will simply answer the question:

"Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage." Lao Tzu

If you’ll say “I love you, too” to somebody who you truly love, read the quote and if you hear it from somebody who really love you, read the quote again then ask yourself why does “I love you, too” is special…
