Physical Adolescence And The Ages Of Development.

Adolescence is said to be the period between childhood and adulthood in every young person’s life. It actually starts from the age of 11 upto 19 or 20 years of age. There is acceleration in maturity during this adolescence period which comes with more responsibility for one’s thoughts, speeches and actions. It can also be said to be the period between puberty and maturity during which physical and psychological development takes place.

A lot of youngsters react differently to the changes that come with adolescence. There tends to be mixed reactions of anger, excitement, confusion and frustration. It is a actually a transition period because it is at this stage that the teenagers gradually detach themselves from their parents which is the reason why it evokes different reactions from most teenagers. They feel matured and want to venture out there on their own but the truth remains that they still lack clearly defined roles in the society. This is when the feelings of insecurity, anger and frustration begins.

There occur changes in every aspect of human life. The girl will begin to have more noticeable curves, her breasts will start developing and her skin more glowing than it was while the boy grows taller rapidly. In both boys and girls, they start growing pubic hair both in their genital areas and armpit. They tend to eat more than they normally use to. It is important to note that during this period, they need more vitamins, minerals and proteins in their meals than before.

This is the period that parents and guardians have to monitor their eating patterns or habits because they are taking it from adolescence into adulthood.

In all, adolescence is a very turbulent period and parents, guardians and teachers alike are encouraged to help make this transition period a memorable one for the adolescents.
